Why FBeBike ?

Starting in our 30s, our muscles shrink as we age. When muscles are weakened, more stress will fall on bones and joints. That is why older people tend to have joint problems and lower back pain. To combat the muscle loss, preferred exercises are to not only burn calories, but also strengthen our muscles.

Recumbent bike is a cardio equipment that can strengthen muscles around our knees. The FBeBike improves on the traditional recumbent bike by adding a rotating back rest, which allows a user to simultaneously plank and bike in an intensive full-body workout.

The FBeBike is better at strengthening our knees than a traditional recumbent bike, because the user’s body is straight during the plank-biking which allows the user to apply body weight to increase intensity as well as to exercise in a relaxed expanding posture. The FBeBike can at least be used as a regular recumbent bike if a user chooses to sit-bike.

Further, the FBeBike can strengthen our core at the same time. The core has the most important muscles in our body. Back muscles are particularly important, because they surround our spine which holds our entire body together and, give power to other parts of the body. Thus, strengthening our core is not only crucial for sculpting a flat stomach, but also providing support for the entire body in everyday movements, reduce back pain, and improve posture.

Plank is recognized as one of the best exercises for the core. However, in conventional floor planking, arms hurt; and it is not practical to do many iterations. The FBeBike in essence provides a better way to plank, because it combines planking with biking in a holistic cardio exercise. You can do interval planking by alternating between the plank-biking and the sit-biking for as many iterations as you like or can. The FBeBike provides a high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which is recognized as one of the best ways to lose weight.

Furthermore, the FBeBike is less boring. Traditional cardio equipment, such as recumbent or spinning bike, is generally boring because their low intensity lets the user’s mind adrift; and they are too repetitive. The FBeBike instead provides an intensive full-body workout in a varied way – alternating between the plank-biking and the sit-biking, thus is less boring. Normally, a 10-minute FBeBike exercise can already get you sweaty. Daily such workout over a period of 4 weeks may increase your floor plank duration from 1 minute to 3 minutes. The benefit of a stronger core can be felt in everything you do.

A user can sit-bike for a few seconds, and then rise to plank-bike for a minute or two before lowering back down to the sit-biking for another round of exercise -- one round can send your heart racing, and 5 will make you sweat already. The easy transition between the sit-biking and the plank-biking is made possible by a rotating back rest.
